Evidence of the self portrait can be traced back to the caves at Lascaux where ancient artists left outlines of their hands as proof of their existence.

The range of art forms that include manifestations of the "self portrait" have come to include drawing, painting, graphics, photography, sculpture, cinema, and literature.

I have been drawing and painting self portraits since I was twelve years old. My early self portrait paintings and drawings were inspired by Van Gogh's intense and moody works. Frida Kahlo, Rembrandt , Carravagio, Magritte, Da Vinci, and contemporary artist Llyn Foulkes as well as a great many others have influenced my work.

The characters in my self portraits represent various personas and are part of a theatrical pageant of characters, real and imagined.
